August 2026 Release Notes
A lot of purposeful work has shipped since our last newsletter. This issue introduces a feature we're now opening up to all customers, covers improvements across scheduling, portal configuration, and data quality, and shares an early look at where our integrations and AI work are heading.
✦ Feature Spotlight: Credentials
Available as a paid add-on
For many volunteer programs, managing requirements like background checks, training completions, or certifications has meant spreadsheets, manual follow-up, and a lot of hoping nothing slips through. Credentials is Golden's answer to that: a purpose-built system for defining what your volunteers need, tracking where each person stands, and keeping the whole process moving without constant manual intervention.
We've been running Credentials with a select group of customers over the past several months, and we’re excited to open access to a broader set of customers.
What it does:
- Define the requirements for your program. Set up credentials, background checks, training modules, signed agreements, or any custom requirement, and attach them to the opportunities or roles that need them. Golden handles the rest: surfacing the requirement to volunteers at the right moment, tracking submissions, and flagging what needs your attention.
- Give volunteers a clear path. Instead of a confusing email chain or a PDF checklist, volunteers see exactly what's required of them, what they've completed, and what's still outstanding — all as part of their registration and sign-up experience.
- Keep your team in the loop without manual checking. Organizers can receive notifications when a credential needs review, has been completed, or is expiring. Golden gives you real-time views of your roster's compliance status, filterable and sortable so you can focus on what needs action.
- Scale with your program. Whether you're managing five credentials or five hundred, the table view lets you scan, sort, and batch-process your roster without losing track of where anyone stands.

More ways to shape your Portal to your program
Available on enterprise plans with a branded portal.
A few new configuration options let you fine-tune how your Portal presents itself to volunteers, reducing friction for returning participants and cutting down on duplicate accounts.
- "My Opportunities" in the top navigation. For logged-in participants, you can now surface a "My Opportunities" shortcut directly in the Portal's top nav, so returning volunteers can jump straight back to their commitments.
- Hide "Create New Account" on the sign-in page. If your program routes participants through SSO or wants to prevent new self-service accounts, you can now suppress the account-creation option from the sign-in screen. Fewer duplicate accounts, cleaner rosters. This requires a branded dashboard.
- Customizable email and phone field labels. The label and help text on the email and phone number fields in the registration form can now be configured so participants in specialized programs see field names and guidance that match their context.
These are configurable options, not automatic changes. To enable or adjust any of them for your Portal, reach out to your Client Strategy Lead.
Integrations & AI: what's shipping and what's coming
Salesforce integration available on enterprise plans. Microsoft pilot open to all.
Updates across our integrations, with AI on the horizon; a couple shipping now, a couple coming soon.
- Salesforce: guest relationships now sync. (Out now) When one participant signs up another as their guest, we now sync that relationship into Salesforce for host/guest reporting, group-attendance workflows, and accurate hours and credit attribution. This ships as part of our move to Salesforce's modern Gen 2 package (v2.27, now live on AppExchange), which means faster, safer updates for Salesforce-connected programs going forward. If you are interested in this update, please reach out to your Client Strategist for guidance on navigating the update or you can review this document.
- Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud support. (Coming soon) Native Nonprofit Cloud support is in progress, so Golden data will flow directly into Nonprofit Cloud's native volunteer-management objects, making its built-in reporting, automation, and AI work with your participation data without custom mapping. If you're integrated with Salesforce, watch for a dedicated note from us with the specifics. If you're on or moving to Nonprofit Cloud and want into the beta cohort, reach out to your Client Strategy Lead.
- Microsoft & AI: Golden + Copilot. (Coming soon — 2–3 customers) We're building toward a future where your AI assistant works directly with your Golden data. The first step is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration that lets AI tools in the Microsoft ecosystem, like Copilot, securely connect to Golden. Picture asking your assistant about upcoming shifts, a volunteer's history, or how a program is tracking, and getting answers grounded in your real data. We're early here and shaping it deliberately, so we're looking for just 2–3 customers who already work in Microsoft tools to explore it with us. If becoming an AI-forward volunteer operation is on your radar, tell your Client Strategy Lead and we'll bring you into the earliest conversations.
Capture the right data, cleanly
Available on all plans
Ask for exactly what you need, and trust where it lands. New Required Questions controls let you require fields like emergency-contact relationship. Required fields now surface during registration when specified. And checkbox (yes/no) questions now carry their full question text into exports and Salesforce, so answers read clearly instead of showing only the short checkbox label.
Heads-up if you use checkbox questions in exports or Salesforce: starting in early August, the question name shown for past checkbox answers in exports will update to this clearer full-heading format. If anything downstream keys on exact question text, expect that one-time change. Ask your Client Strategy Lead if you'd like advance notice on timing.
Under the hood: fixes across scheduling, credentials, and more
Available on all plans unless noted
Not every improvement shows up in a new feature — some of the most valuable work is what quietly stops going wrong. Everything below is live.
Reliability in scheduling got real attention this cycle, time-slot availability displays more accurately, waitlist promotions trigger their confirmation emails more dependably, and add-to-calendar links now work correctly for both Outlook and Microsoft 365 users. Taken together, day-to-day scheduling is more predictable for your team and your volunteers. We're continuing to work through additional edge cases in this area, so if something isn't behaving as expected, your Client Strategy Lead is the right first stop.
Until next time, your Client Strategy Lead is the fastest path to any of the above — whether you want to turn something on, ask about a pilot, or just get clarity on what's changing for your program.
