Golden → RE NXT Integration
Golden can save 90% of one's administrative time by keeping volunteer records up to date in Blackbaud RE NXT. Golden's integration permits RE NXT users to focus on recruiting and retaining volunteers, rather than recording the minutiae of data themselves.
When used with RE NXT, Golden automatically inputs contact information, updates registration and attendance, and tracks hours in NXT.
What does the Golden → RE NXT integration do?
Golden's integration with RE NXT is "one-way" - Golden sends info to RE NXT.
Golden pushes data as follows:
- Automatically sends volunteer data from Golden to RE NXT every time a volunteer registers in Golden; we either...
- Connect a Golden volunteer to an existing Blackbaud constituent, or
- Create a new Blackbaud constituent record
- Note: if a volunteer updates their profile in Golden separate from registering for an Opportunity, Golden does not push that updated info to Blackbaud
Deduplication:
Golden will try not to create duplicate constituents when sending volunteers to RE NXT. The deduplication process works as follows:
- Golden first searches for an alias matching the volunteer's Golden ID to find an existing constituent
- If no alias match is found, Golden searches by email address
- If the "Use name in deduplication" setting is enabled in Golden's integration settings, Golden also searches by name and only uses constituents where both name and email match
- Golden filters out any constituents that already have a Golden alias (to prevent mapping multiple volunteers to the same constituent)
- If exactly one matching constituent is found, Golden connects to it. Otherwise, Golden creates a new constituent
Blackbaud Tiles
The Golden application in Blackbaud adds a custom tile to the homepage, the Constituent detail page and the Event detail page.
The Golden tile shows the volunteer hours and associated value of volunteer time for the given context:
- On the home page the hours and value are the total hours and value for the organization in Golden
- On the Constituent detail pages the hours are the total hours the volunteer has done for the organization
- The Event detail page shows the total hours for the specific date and time of the opportunity
How Golden works with RE NXT:
Once the integration is completed, Golden will begin passing data to RE NXT automatically.
The "trigger" for the data passing is a volunteer registering for an Opportunity (and then any subsequent cancellations/completions/etc. for that registration).
Golden will pass:
- The volunteer's contact and personal information
- The Opportunity and Timeslot (with Date/Time) that the volunteer registered for
- Attendance status and hours completed (after the event has passed)
If the Golden volunteer matches an existing Blackbaud constituent, Golden will connect the two records. If the Golden volunteer does NOT match an existing Blackbaud constituent, Golden will create a new Blackbaud constituent.
Note: this new record type will be marked as a Golden Volunteer

- Once you are on a Professional plan, go to the Settings→Integrations tab to complete the integration.
- Sign in to your Blackbaud account and select the environment that you want to integrate with. Here's a video with more info.
FAQs:
Can I track Volunteer Hours in RE NXT?
Yes. Volunteer Hours can be viewed at a glance on the Golden tile on the Constituent detail page or in conjunction with specific Opportunities.
Do the groups or contacts that I create in RE NXT get sent to Golden?
No.
Do the Groups I've created in Golden get sent to RE NXT?
Unfortunately not yet, but we hope to introduce this feature soon!
What objects and records are updated when someone registers to volunteer via Golden?
When a volunteer signs up for an opportunity through Golden, their registration and all the information associated with it (personal contact info, attendance, time spent, etc.) will be forwarded into their constituent in RE NXT.
When does Golden send data to RE NXT?
When a volunteer registers for an Opportunity OR when the status of that registration gets changed (i.e. a "Registered" volunteer "Cancels", "Missed" or "Completed" the Opportunity).
What if a volunteer updates their profile in Golden? Does that information get passed to RE NXT?
No, but the next time that a volunteer registers for an Opportunity, their profile updates will get passed to RE NXT.
If I merge, in RE NXT, a constituent record created by Golden and a constituent record created in RE NXT, will Golden be able to connect to the newly merged constituent record?
Yes, and here are some additional notes:
- Golden adds an alias to constituents it creates in RE NXT
- When merging the contacts, ensure the Golden alias is maintained on the merged constituent
- After that, Golden will be able to find and connect to the merged constituent
