Best Practices for Opportunity Managers

The Opportunity Manager role allows specific team members to manage Volunteer Opportunities they're assigned to without giving them full administrative access to your Golden Dashboard. Opportunity Managers can view registration details, edit Opportunity information, and receive email notifications for their assigned Opportunities.

What Can Opportunity Managers Do?

Opportunity Managers have full administrative privileges for each Opportunity they are assigned to, meaning they can perform the same actions that an Admin user would for those specific Opportunities. You can assign multiple Opportunity Managers to a single Opportunity, giving your team and departments the focused access they need to run their programs successfully!

Setting Up Opportunity Managers

An Opportunity Manager must first be invited to your Dashboard AND then assigned to specific Opportunities. Here's how to do it:

  1. Invite the user to your Dashboard with Opportunity Manager permissions
  2. Wait for them to accept the invitation before trying to assign them to Opportunities. If they haven't created a Golden profile yet, they'll receive an email invitation to do so.
    • Pro tip: Opportunity Managers can use this same account to login to the Volunteer Portal and participate in opportunities themselves!
  3. Assign them to Opportunities by selecting their email address in the "Opportunity Managers" field during Opportunity creation or editing (found in the Communications section under the Extras tab).
  4. Configure notification settings in your Organization Settings (under "My Organization" settings) to control who receives notification emails:
    • Default behavior: Only the assigned Opportunity Manager(s) receive notification emails for their Opportunities
    • Optional setting: Enable "Send 'Who's coming...' emails to all Admins (in addition to Opportunity Manager)" to have both Admins and Opportunity Managers receive these notifications

And that's it! Once set up correctly, Opportunity Managers will be able to manage their assigned Opportunities and receive relevant notifications.
