Golden takes data privacy and permissions very seriously. We built the concept of "Affiliation" to make sure that volunteers give the right Organizations permissions to their volunteering history (like giving a Company permission to see volunteering so that they can reward you with volunteer time-off!).
- An affiliation is a relationship between a volunteer and an organization on Golden that both the volunteer and the organization agree to. Companies and schools Organizations have the Affiliates feature turned on by default and can invite their volunteers to join them on Golden (don't see the Affiliates Group? contact support@goldenvolunteer.com), and those volunteers will automatically be invited to join as Affiliates.
- By establishing an Affiliation relationship between the volunteer and company/school, the "affiliated volunteers give the organization permission to view their volunteering history with 3rd-party Nonprofits or any other organization on Golden.
- Some examples include:
- Guidance counselors automatically give students credit for volunteering in the community!
- If you are the HR rep for Fun Corp., and your employees volunteer with RescuedPuppyPatrol.org, you'll be able to confirm their volunteer hours automatically! Makes that Annual Report much easier, doesn’t it?

But the benefits aren't just for Companies and Schools. Any Organization on Golden can leverage the Affiliation relationship in the following ways:
- When you "Recommend" Opportunities, your Affiliates will receive a push notification. Those Opportunities will be highlighted in the Upcoming Opportunities feed.
- You can target your Affiliates (or the Affiliates of other Organizations) with Private Opportunities
Not only can you invite volunteers to Affiliate with you, but if you allow "Affiliates", they can search for you themselves via their Profiles in the Golden Mobile Apps or Web Portal.
- For instance, if you are the HR rep for Fun Corp., and your employees volunteer with RescuedPuppyPatrol.org hosts a Private Opportunity for your employees at The Fun Company, you’ll be able to ensure that only your employees are DTV.
